That video from Laci Green about fat shaming and stuff is really cool and all.

But I’m pissed off because those are things that fat people have been saying forever, but when a thin-bodied person says them, they are praised for it. And all of a sudden, other thin folks are like OMG SHE’S SO RIGHT~

Agree 100%. Laci Green is fantastic and her videos are fantastic and I am so incredibly glad that she posted this video. I don’t want anyone to misconstrue that I think otherwise, but yes, isn’t it silly that the world will listen to a thin person telling them to stop fat shaming, but when all the fatties tell them to knock it off, we’re just, I don’t know, making excuses for our lazy jiggly asses and deserve to have those jiggly asses shamed off.

Before I had even seen this video, I actually found myself thinking today, “If I were just a little bit smaller, people would take me seriously as a fat advocate.”

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the state of our society.

Reblogging for agreement. It happens with all oppressions - oppressors will listen to one of them before deigning to bend an ear towards those who are actually being oppressed. And it sucks.

Honestly people, WE KNOW!!!!!

We don’t need you to tell us we’re fat, we know.

We don’t need you to tell us being fat is “unhealthy”, we know.

But do you know people can be fat and healthy?

Do you know people can be fat and confident?

Do you know people can be fat and happy?

Well guess what? We CAN be all those things and so much more!

While our fat may be the first thing you see, it does not mean you know jack shit about what our health conditions may be just by looking at us.

YOU ARE NOT OUR DOCTORS.

Please, keep your body policing to yourselves and get your heads out of your ignorant asses.

Love,

Jess.

Call for Submissions: Fat Positive Anthology

poisonpassion80:

Virgie says: I’m seeking personal essays of 1500-3000 words for a fat positive anthology to be released in 2012. I’m seeking essays that either (1) focus on a specific event/experience that was truly flabulous or (2) tell the story of how you became a fierce fatty. I encourage contributors to hone in on a particular theme—like romance, parenting, family, fatshion, dating, performance—to use as a lens through which to tell your story. Fierce, sassy, thoughtful, authentic, non-fiction, previously unpublished, autobiographical stories from fatties who identify as women are welcome. The vision for this anthology is one of fun, unapologetic fat celebration and love!

I’ll be submitting something to this (if they’ll have me, of course) - it sounds amazing! x
