The Walking Dead Season 3 Production Photos - At The Prison

I need to talk about Ros, Alayaya, and Chataya:

ohmytheon:

I just don’t understand why Ros was created to replace Alayaya and Chataya. I want to sit down and ask the producers why they did this, but there is literally no answer they could give to me that would suffice. Why create a character out of thin air to do something that a character in the books is already doing? Why replace an intelligent and strong POC female character with a white female character that must rely on a man in order to run a business? Because it’s Littlefinger’s business, not Ros’, whereas in the books, it is Chataya’s business.

Seriously. I don’t understand it. Did they save money by casting a white woman? Did they honestly think we’d like her more if she was white? Did they think we wouldn’t care? And you know, maybe some people don’t. But seriously, it’s kind of ridiculous and pointless for them to have gone out of their way to create a character; write new scenes for this character when they could’ve used the time to do the scenes of characters already in the book; have her appear every time they need a prostitute; and then give her the plotlines of other characters in the series.

I can’t even say it’s laziness on the writer’s parts since they go out of their way to have her in the series. And for fucking what? Whatever she does was already being shown in the books by two other powerful women. They added nothing by adding her to the show; they merely took away from it. And seriously, though there is no shortage of prostitutes on this series, if an important character has need of a whore, it’s Ros. If season 2 is The Adventures of Littlefinger, then the entire series is really Ros Attempts to Make the 8: The Magical Tale of Ros’ Vagina. Theon, Tyrion, Pycelle, Joffrey… She’s been with half of the small council! If Renly wasn’t gay, Stannis wasn’t a total prude, and Varys lacked a cock, I’m sure she would’ve been with them too. Frankly, I’m surprised there wasn’t a scene in which Robert tried to get Renly to bed a whore and that whore was Ros.

As someone that really liked Alayaya and Chataya, and most definitely their relationships with Tyrion, I was really disappointed. A lot of people call Tyrion sexist and misogynistic, but he had a great business relationship with these two women. He respected them for being able to run a business and take care of each other. When Alayaya was brought in as his whore, Tyrion was concerned, not because a some random innocent woman was being harmed but because his friend was being harmed. Despite the fact that they were whores that Tyrion so often frequented, he did respect and like them. He was thankful for them helping him.

Ros on the other hand? What does she mean to Tyrion? I mean, sure, it shows that Tyrion can have empathy for someone that he barely knows and feel guilt for putting an innocent woman in danger, but that’s not the point of that scene at all. And seriously, why the fuck did Cersei think it was Ros? Tyrion and Ros haven’t even interacted since Tyrion was in Winterfell in the first episode of the series. That was nearly two years ago. So maybe Cersei thought that Ros had traveled from Winterfell to King’s Landing to be with Tyrion, but that’s the most absurd stretch ever. She can come up with some crazy ideas (burning down the Tower of the Hand, really?), but that is something I barely thought of and I can make leaps in logic like it’s nobody’s business.

I guess, what I’m trying to say, is that while I’m sure Ros was a well-intentioned character and the actress is doing a fine job (because she is, she’s doing well, she’s a good actress), I absolutely can’t stand the character. When she was brought in, beaten and imprisoned, I didn’t even care. I couldn’t find the strength to even care if Tyrion actually cared, though I know he did. Ros’ character is completely unnecessary and even worse took the place of two very strong POC female characters that would’ve helped make HBO’s Game of Thrones as “feminist” as it claims to be.

I’d been spoiled for RW, so when I read that paragraph I nearly shit myself. Those poor readers who spent years trying to work out what that vision meant only to find it was completely literal :(

memnochzero:

is gonna make those 16 episodes of The Walking Dead season 3 so fun. Sooooo fun.

Next fall my face will be hurting from smiling at the awesomeness. Still i hope they don’t skip straight to Woodbury and give us at lease SOME prison.

I have never been so excited and dreaded something so much at the same time. Oh jesus fucking christ.

orlywutlol:

Second best scene so far in season 2.

I’d actually zoned out during this scene and nearly fell off my chair at the gunshots. Had to watch it again. I loved it but I actually really enjoyed the characters (and Renee from True Blood is hawt, yo) so was quite sad to see ‘em go so soon. Also at least once per ep I have an “aha hahahaha I can’t believe that’s Andrew Lincoln hahahah omg” moment.

1441. Simon’s power was junk. He could see Sally’s boobs, but not that Alisha’s throat would be cut?
