Sit down, fashion, we need to talk
You’re not exactly friendly to the big girls anyway, so this almost feels like asking the KKK to stop using the N-word, but let’s try it anyway.
Plus-sized women more or less have the same aesthetic as straight-sized women. I like simple black dresses, unembellished skirts, good basics, classic colors. All of that. So why on earth are most plus-sized fashions tacky monstrosities?
Let’s take a look at Forever 21.
Here are a selection of straight sized dresses:
It has the usual impossibly tacky gear the F21 carries generally, but a few classic, work appropriate pieces as well.
And now the Plus sizes:
Loud prints, shiny fabrics and not damn thing you could wear to work.
Why isn’t that cute little orange dress in the straight sizes available in a plus size? Why go through the trouble of making whole new dresses just for a different size range? Why not offer the same shit in expanded sizes? WHY?!
And a quick perusal of other sites offering plus-sized fashions within a certain price range will yield similar results.
In order to get work-appropriate basics, you have to go up in your price range. And since for some of us, Old Navy at full price is still kinda high, this really fucking sucks.
In short, Fat women like the same clothes straight-sized women like. So please, just make the cute shit in our size.
This. Not all fat women spend their lives a) at home b) in tacky reggaeton nightclubs. Pretty clothes or GTFO.
You’re forgetting their 3X fits a UK20. Some British high street shops go higher than that. In their main ranges. But don’t listen to me, I’m just another demanding fatty!
